Google Postmaster Tools Integration

Overview

This guide explains how to connect Google Postmaster Tools to PowerDMARC. Once connected, PowerDMARC pulls Gmail's own reporting data for your domain with read-only access. You can view it in the Deliverability module alongside your Inbox Placement results.

Feature

Description

Spam Rate

The percentage of your email that Gmail users reported as spam.

DMARC Pass Rate

The percentage of your Gmail-delivered email that passed DMARC.

SPF Pass Rate

The percentage of your Gmail-delivered email that passed SPF.

DKIM Pass Rate

The percentage of your Gmail-delivered email that passed DKIM.

Delivery Errors Breakdown

Delivery errors reported by Google for the domain within the reporting period.

Automatic Sync

PowerDMARC refreshes Google Postmaster data every 24 hours.

NOTE

Google Postmaster Tools is available on the Enterprise plan only.

1. Prerequisites

Before you connect, make sure that:

  • You have a Google account you can use to sign in to Google Postmaster Tools.

  • You can add a DNS TXT record to the domain you want to connect. Google uses this record to verify that you own the domain.

  • The domain is already added to your PowerDMARC account.

NOTE

Google only shows Postmaster data for domains that send enough email to Gmail users. If your domain sends low volumes to Gmail, the dashboard may show limited data or none at all, even when the connection works.

2. Connect Google Postmaster Tools to PowerDMARC

  1. Navigate to Deliverability > Google Postmaster.

  2. Select the domain you want to configure from the Domain dropdown.

  3. Click Connect Google Postmaster Tools.

  1. You are redirected to Google. Sign in with your Google account and approve the read-only access request for PowerDMARC.

3. Verify Your Domain in Google Postmaster Tools

If the domain is not yet verified in Google Postmaster Tools, complete verification on the Google side:

  1. In Google Postmaster Tools, enter your domain.

  2. Copy the TXT record that Google provides.

  3. Add the TXT record to your domain's DNS.

  4. Return to Google Postmaster Tools and click Verify.

NOTE

DNS changes can take time to propagate. If verification fails right away, wait a while and try again.

When verification is complete, Google begins collecting data on email sent from your domain to Gmail users. PowerDMARC then receives that data.

4. View Your Google Postmaster Data

After the connection is complete, the page shows a Connected status, along with the reporting date range and the last refresh date.

The dashboard displays:

  • Spam Rate, DMARC Pass Rate, SPF Pass Rate and DKIM Pass Rate for the selected period.

  • Delivery Errors Breakdown, which lists any delivery errors Google reported. If Google reported none, the section shows a No Issues status.

PowerDMARC scans for new data every 24 hours, so new Postmaster results appear after the next sync.

5. Disconnect Google Postmaster Tools

To stop syncing data for a domain:

  1. Navigate to Deliverability > Google Postmaster.

  2. Select the domain.

  3. Click Disconnect.

WARNING

Disconnecting stops all future data syncs for the domain. To resume syncing, you must reconnect through Google.

6. Access Control

The Google Postmaster Tools integration is available to accounts on the Enterprise plan. Each domain is connected separately, so repeat the steps in Section 2 for every domain you want to monitor.
